Filed under: Convertibles , Coupes , Chevrolet , GM Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Concept - Click above for high-res image gallery The on again, off again roller coaster ride that is General Motors' product development schedule once again apparently has a green light; the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro convertible. The drop-top Camaro is once again scheduled for a 2011 grand entrance, one year after the first Bowtie pony cars begin rolling off the line in Oshawa. Motor Trend reported back in November that the convertible Camaro was in trouble due to GM's cash crunch, and last week we learned from The Detroit Bureau that financial problems at a German supplier for the car's roof was threating the model's timetable . For its part, General Motors insists that the topless Camaro has always been scheduled for one year after the coupe began production, but now Motor Trend is now saying that the Camaro Convertible will probably not arrive until the first quarter of 2011 (likely as a 2012...

Filed under: Coupes , Videos , Chevrolet , GM Click above to watch video after the jump Has it been three years already? The 2010 Chevy Camaro is finally rolling off the assembly line in Oshawa, Ontario after what seems a lifetime of anticipation, and 14,000 early adopters are impatiently waiting the arrival of their Bow Tie pony car. The very first Camaro to roll off the production line was a black SS (of course) with a red leather interior. Hendrick Motor Sports CEO Rick Hendrick is the lucky recipient of Camaro #001, and he flew up to Oshawa to claim his prize. Few companies understand the significance of VIN #001, so the General had cameras rolling to share the milestone with the world. Follow the jump to watch production of Camaro #001, and click here to read our First Drive of the 2010 Camaro . Filed under: Time Warp , Convertibles , Coupes , Auction Action , Chevrolet Click above for a high-res gallery of the Mecum Chevelle collection We're used to hearing about big-time auctions from the likes of Barrett-Jackson, RM, Christies, etc., but you can add one more to the list: Mecum, based out of Marengo, Il. The firm's auctions can be viewed live on Discovery HD, and they've already booked cars like an original Shelby Daytona Coupe for their 22nd annual Spring Classic Auction in May. Also going up on the block will be Dana Mecum's personal Chevelle collection. The cars will be sold as a group, meaning the winning bidder will be taking home a total of eight Chevelles ranging from a 1965 SS hardtop with a 327ci V8 to a numbers-matching 1970 convertible with a 450-hp LS6 V8 and four-speed transmission. Check out the gallery below, as well as descriptions for each vehicle in the press release after the jump. Gallery: Mecum Chevelle Collection Continue reading Like Chevrolet...

If we take the Transformers analogy further (bear with us), the Camaro has landed after a few Decepticons - the Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang and Nissan 370Z - have already begun staking out territories. More than the others, the Camaro has to justify its place in the battle, while at the same time backing up three years of unrelenting hype. Follow the jump to find out if Chevrolet has brought the required weaponry to fight to the death for muscle car supremacy. Filed under: Coupes , Sports/GTs , Chevrolet , Autoline on Autoblog 2010 CHEVY CAMARO: DRIVING IMPRESSIONS I'm sure there are a lot of Autobloggers out there who know the specifications of the new Camaro far better than I do. But numbers on paper don't mean much until you experience them through the seat of your pants. So here are my driving impressions of the new Camaro, after spending the better part of a day with four different models, driving them hard over a variety of different roads. First off, this is unmistakably a Camaro, yet one that looks fresh and modern. It's a powerfully built car that almost has a pugnacious appearance to it. Almost. But the size and proportions are well balanced, and it looks good from every angle. Follow the jump for more. Come back Monday (3/23) at 12:00PM EST for Autoblog's own First Drive of the 2010 Chevy Camaro . We'll be working on it all weekend, so you won't want to miss it. John McElroy is host of the TV program "Autoline...

Click above for a high-res gallery of the Opel Ampera concept General Motors Europe boss Carl-Peter Forster began this morning's press conference in Geneva with an acknowledgment of the dire financial straights that the entire industry is experiencing right now. Forster also candidly admitted that GM is currently investigating all the possibilities in regards to changing its relationship with Opel, including outside equity investments. Once he got past all the bad news, however, he introduced the production-intent version of the Opel Ampera. If it looks familiar, it should. If it doesn't, well, what rock have you been hiding under for the last two years? The Ampera is the Opel badged variant of the Chevrolet Volt. It uses the same Voltec powertrain as the Volt, as well as most of its body. The main differences are the markedly more aggressive front and rear fascias and the black (rather than white) interior. Like the Volt, most of the front fascia is closed off to optimize aerodynamics...

While we are evidently not allowed to sit in the Spark (let alone rap on the dashboard and check out interior materials and fits), we have been able able to open up the five-door and peer inside, and it appears to be surprisingly capacious for both front- and rear-seat passengers, and the cargo looks right-sized as well. Better still, the roadgoing...
