• First spy shots of Audi R8 Targa surface

Filed under: Spy Photos , Convertibles , Sports/GTs , Geneva Motor Show , Supercars , Audi After more than a year of speculation , and even a leaked sketch , we finally have our first spy shots confirming that Audi is developing an open-air version of its R8 supercar. And just to sweeten the deal, the test mule spied is all but completely undisguised. While nomenclature has yet to be confirmed - possibly using the Targa, Convertible, Cabrio, Roadster or Spider tags - the shots confirm that the convertible supercar will employ a fabric roof . Power is expected to carry over from the 420-hp FSI V8 coupe, but the presence of wider tailpipes on this test mule indicate that the highly-anticipated V10 is likely to appear in the roadster, as well. The car is expected to make its debut next March at the Geneva Motor Show show in Switzerland. [Source: NextAutos ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
• Geneva 2008: Audi unveils new A4 DTM race car

Filed under: Motorsports , Sedans/Saloons , Geneva Motor Show , Euro , Audi Click the images to view the new Audi A4 DTM in hi-res The Audi RS4 is a pretty badass car any way you look at it, but put it next to the A4 DTM and it looks remarkably pedestrian. With torquey turbodiesel versions of the R8 supercar, TT range and Q7 sport-ute all making their debuts at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, Ingolstadt chose the most extreme racing version of its A4 to highlight at its press conference. Unveiled by Dr. Martin Mühlmeier, Head of Audi Sport Technology; Audi Motorsport chief Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich; and reigning champion driver Mattias Ekström; the "project R14" A4 DTM represents over a year of development. The racing formula governing the DTM German touring car championship precludes Audi from showcasing any of its trademark technologies - like FSI direct-injection, TDI diesels or quattro all-wheel-drive - but that didn't stop Audi's racing engineers from working their...
• Geneva 2008: Audi Q7 V12 TDI Coastline redefines "flagship"

Filed under: Concept Cars , SUVs , Geneva Motor Show , Audi Click to view the Audi Q7 V12 TDI Coastline in hi-res The Audi Q7 Coastline is not the first attempt at infusing an automobile with a nautical theme, but it very well might be the most exquisite execution we've seen to date. Forget about automotive mishaps like the Mercury Villager Nautica edition and the Plymouth Breeze, this concept rivals even the teak-decked Rolls-Royce Phantom DropHead Coupe for dockside prowess. In fact, a Maserati convertible parked at a Monte Carlo marina would be jealous. This writer, meanwhile, would be hard-pressed to upstage Alex Nunez's poetic waxing for maritime prose in his preview post , but the pearl white sport-ute makes me feel like picking up the clear-coat polish and teak oil just the same. As you can see in our gallery of high-resolution images, Audi set up an exceptionally photogenic dedicated showroom off the Geneva show floor to showcase the 500hp V12 TDI that would be right at...
• Geneva 2008: Audi TT 2.0 TDI quattro

Filed under: Convertibles , Coupes , Hybrids/Alternative , Geneva Motor Show , Euro , Audi Click the image above for a high-res gallery of the Audi TT 2.0 TDI quattro. Audi has been on a diesel-fueled kick in the last couple of months, first with the unveiling of the R8 V12 TDI concept in Detroit and then followed earlier today by the R8 V12 TDI Le Mans . Both pieces of oil-burning exotica stoke the flames in our diesel-desiring hearts (through compression ignition), but they remain - for the time being - unobtainium. However, Audi maintains that diesel power and driving prowess aren't mutually exclusive, so to prove the point, Audi unveiled the TT 2.0 TDI Quattro. The iconic coupe and roadster are both equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo diesel producing 170 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, with power transmitted through a six-speed manual gearbox and through Audi's legendary Quattro all-wheel-drive system. Puttering along on the U.S. combined cycle in the coupe will net you 44.3 mpg...
• Geneva 2008: Audi R8 V12 TDI Le Mans - a mouthful for a mouthwatering car

Filed under: Concept Cars , Geneva Motor Show , Supercars , Audi Click image above for high-res shots of the R8 V12 TDI Le Mans We just got our first glimpse of the newest AudiR8 concept and we are breathless. Most of that is due to digging ourselves out of the scrum that resulted when the press conference concluded and we found ourselves in a crush of humanity that made us momentarily consider knocking down a few pushy folks around us. Gladly, the thought passed quickly and so did the crowd. What we have for you now is a cluster of pics of this tasty turbodiesel treat. When we told you about this car yesterday, we expected it to be much like the silvery version we saw in Detroit. That was mostly true. This version, finished in Brilliant Red is called the Audi R8 TDI Le Mans to play on Audi's participation in dominance of that legendary endurance race in recent years. It features the same 6.0L V12 pumping out 500 horsepower and prodigious torque, enough in fact (737 lb-ft) to be among...
• RED MENACE: Audi R8 TDI Le Mans infiltrates Geneva

Filed under: Concept Cars , Sports/GTs , Geneva Motor Show , Euro , Supercars , Audi Click image for a hi-res gallery of the Audi R8 TDI Le Mans The Audi R8 V12 TDI concept that made such a splash in Detroit has a fraternal twin, and it's headed to Geneva. Finished in Brilliant Red paint and dubbed the R8 TDI Le Mans -- the association with the fabled endurance race carries a lot more weight on the Continent -- the car arrives in Geneva with the same impressive spec sheet as its silver counterpart. A 6.0L V12 TDI is crammed in the space behind the R8's passenger compartment. It packs a bit of a punch, too -- 500 horsepower and enough torque (737 lb-ft) to alter the earth's rotation allow for a 0-62 mph time of just 4.2 seconds and a 186 mph top end. That's Euro 6-compliant power, too. Clean and mean -- emphasis on the mean. We'll have live shots of it for you tomorrow. • Geneva 2008: Here comes the Audi Q7 V12 TDI!

Filed under: SUVs , Geneva Motor Show , Green , Crossovers/CUVs , Audi Click above for high-res gallery of the Audi Q7 V12 TDI Audi may not have any current plans to offer the monster R8 V12 TDI it showed in Detroit to consumers, but that doesn't mean the 12-cylinder oil burner is going to waste. We first saw Audi's 6L V12 diesel mounted in a Q7 V12 TDI concept at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show , and now it looks like it will be heading to showrooms. Volkswagen's southern branch will be offering the Q7 V12 TDI quattro to customers with enough cash, although exactly how much lettuce will be needed is unknown at this point. Audi plans to start taking pre-orders for the 758 lb-ft, all-wheel-drive seven-seater in the second half of this year. The Germans also haven't said if U.S. dollars will be acceptable for the transaction or Euros will be required. What we do know is that mind-boggling torque figure and the 500 hp peak coming from the V12 oil burner. Even in this large, high...

• Pics aplenty: 2009 Audi A4 Avant

Filed under: Wagons/Estates , Geneva Motor Show , Audi Click above for a high-res gallery of the 2009 Audi A4 Avant. Audi was nice enough to provide us with some more shots of the 2009 A4 Avant ahead of its official unveiling in Geneva next month. As discussed previously, the new estate gets an extra five inches tacked onto its back end to produce a total of 50-cubic feet of storage in the boot. At this point, Audi will only be offering those of us in the States the 2.0-liter TFSI, whereas sedan buyers can opt for the larger 3.2-liter V6. Disappointing as that may be, Audi was able to shave off ten-percent of the weight on this model when compared to the outgoing version. Check our original post for all of the details and see the gallery below for 29 images of Audi's new A4 Avant. Gallery: 2009 Audi A4 Avant Permalink | Email this | Comments
• 2009 Audi A4 Avant revealed ahead of Geneva

Filed under: Wagons/Estates , Geneva Motor Show , Audi Click above for a high-res gallery of the 2009 Audi A4 Avant. Wagonistas, your chariot has arrived. After showing off the new-for- 2009 A4 in Frankfurt , Audi has finally released the details about for its A4 Avant prior to its debut in Geneva next month. The estate version of the A4 is nearly identical to the sedan from the B-pillar forward, but now features 50-cubic feet of cargo capacity out back. On optional power liftgate is available and the load floor is reversible if you happen to be toting a set of used wheels in the trunk and the mat is coated in brake dust. Overall, the Avant gains about five inches in length, but is almost ten-percent lighter than the outgoing model. Although powerplant details are scarce, those of us in the States will be stuck with the 2.0-liter TFSI mill, while sedan buyers get a choice of either the four-cylinder or the 3.2-liter V6. We'll have more from the show floor next month, but in the meantime...
• Autobild supposedly unveils Audi Q5

Filed under: Geneva Motor Show , Crossovers/CUVs , Audi Click above for scans of the Audi Q5. The folks at Autobild are up to their usual shenanigans, publishing what looks to be the new Audi Q5 in all its glory. As is always the case with some of the German auto rags, we're unsure if these are official images from Audi or clever photoshops, but the proportions and details looks spot on. The front end seems to be a nice amalgamation between the Audi A4 and the Q7's fascia, while everything aft of the A-pillar looks like the Q5's big brother at two-thirds scale. The rear light arrangement is something that seems to be carried over from Audi's show vehicles, including the Cross Cabriolet Concept. We'll have all the details about the Audi Q5 when it's officially unveiled next month in Geneva. Thanks for the tip Tom! • Quattro Quarterly lays out Audi's five-year plan for world domination

Filed under: Detroit Auto Show , Convertibles , Coupes , Hybrids/Alternative , Sedans/Saloons , Sports/GTs , SUVs , Geneva Motor Show , Paris Motor Show , Crossovers/CUVs , Hatchbacks , Supercars , Audi The Audi Club of North America puts out a publication aptly titled the Quattro Quarterly that gives Audi owners the inside skinny on everything from future products to how to swap bigger brakes into their B5 S4. One of our intrepid readers, Kevin, sent us a few scans of the QQ's latest issue, where it outlines Audi's product plans for the next five years. While some of it has already been confirmed, other interesting factoids, including the future of the R8, RS-TT and the development of an R4, have long been rumored on these very pages. Follow the jump for the full breakdown on what Audi has in store, but be aware that we're handing out grains of salt below the fold. • Spy Shots: Audi TT-S Coupe and Cabrio

Filed under: Spy Photos , Coupes , Sports/GTs , Geneva Motor Show , Audi The Audi TT-S in both flavors, coupe and cabrio, has been spotted in the wild. The car gets the 2.0-liter TSFI with a jump up to 280 HP instead of the 200 HP found in the base TT, or the 265 HP in the S3. The TT-S puts room between itself and lesser variants with a redesigned front fascia, larger brakes, quad pipes out back, and LED lamps along the lower front edge of the headlights. The TT-S cabrio was caught at the Nurburgring . How well either car will challenge their sporty siblings remains to be seen, but we certainly won't complain about more power. The TT-S coupe will debut at the Geneva Motor Show next year, and be followed by even hotter TT-RS with 350 HP some time down the line. Thanks for the tip, Gregory!
