Filed under: Aftermarket , Time Warp , Auction Action , Porsche Click above to view more of the Porsche 959 Speedster Not all German supercars are the same. For instance, not every Teutonic exotic bred the plethora of derivatives that the Mercedes SLR McLaren has. Case in point, the Porsche 959. There was no 722 version, no roadster and certainly no chop-top speedster. But that's where the aftermarket comes into the picture. Well, sorta. What you see here is not a 959 supercar with the roof hacked off. Nor is it an original 356, either. All it appears to be is a kit car combining the retro styling of the original Porsche with the front and rear ends of the 959. The hybrid concoction may have filled a niche for a modern throwback to the original 356 just as the first-generation Boxster was coming to market, but where that leaves this creation now is up to debate. While we can't say that the end result is a work of art, it certainly is... original. Follow the link for the auction...

Filed under: Car Buying , Auction Action , Marketing/Advertising , Chrysler , GM , Lexus Way back in February, General Motors announced it would be listing all of it Certified Pre-Owned vehicles on eBay Motors, and it took until now to actually make that happen. To go along with GM, Chrysler and Lexus have also joined up, with eBay Motors making a special section of its website specifically for CPO vehicles. The new site, which can be found here , went live yesterday and is sponsored exclusively by Lexus. It's also provided at no cost to any dealer looking for another outlet to advertise its inventory. A quick check of the new hub shows that both eBay's classic auction-style listings and regular classified ads are listed together. The site's search functionality allows users to find vehicles located near their zip code, meaning it should prove awfully easy to find that brand-spanking-used Chrysler Sebring you've been foaming at the mouth for. Filed under: Auction Action , GM click above for gallery of the entire Final 500 Collection The death of the Oldsmobile brand in 2004 was certainly a sad moment in the annals of automotive history. At 107 years old, the brand had seen its share of ups and downs, and most would agree that it ended on a down note with a lineup of cars that weren't competitive at all in their respective classes. Regardless, a dealership in Indiana managed to collect an example of each vehicle in Oldsmobile's parting lineup, all of which feature the brand's Final 500 Collector's Edition Package. They include a 2004 Silhouette minivan, 2003 Aurora, 2002 Intrigue, 2004 Bravada SUV and, my personal fave, a 2004 Alero. With my own 1999 Alero Coupe suffering from a determined pull to the right, I am looking for a suitable replacement and a perfectly preserved 2004 model would be perfect. Unfortunately, these vehicles were being sold as a set (the auction is not live anymore) with a starting bid of...

Filed under: Auction Action , Mercedes Benz , Celebrities Some movie critics said that Harrison Ford was too old to star in another Indiana Jones film, but the entertaining movie grossed $125m in its first weekend. With cars, well conditioned collectibles can fetch big dollars too. The 1937 Mercedes 300c from Raiders of the Lost Ark is up for bidding on eBay, and the starting price is a jaw-dropping $2.5m. The mint-conditioned Mercedes convertible reportedly only has 600 miles on the odometer, and perhaps more importantly the vehicle's owner has proof the German classic was in the movie. The classic Benz's memorable scene came during one of films more exciting and unbelievable chase scenes, where it served as the ride of choice for the Nazi regime. The car, which sat untouched in a private collection for over 26 years, was also the featured guest at the 1982 Harbour, FL D'Elegance, and both the sheet metal and interior look spectacular. Filed under: SUVs , Auction Action , Volkswagen , Motorcycles , Special/Limited Editions Click to view the Harley edition Touareg in our gallery Volkswagen and Harley-Davidson are two motor companies with highly recognized images, but those images don't much overlap. That is, until now: someone has cooked up his own Harley edition Touareg. But while the special badging might look at home on a Ford F-150 , it doesn't quite fit on a VW. Aside from the emblems affixed to the wheels, grille, tailgate, sill plates and steering wheel, there's really nothing that makes this any different from any other 2004 model Touareg. It's got 42k miles on the odometer and a rich brown saddle leather interior, and with four days remaining 'till the digital hammer drops, bidding is up to $13,600. An actual Harley, and any measure of good taste, are not included. Gallery: Volkswagen Touareg Harley-Davidson edition [Source: eBay Motors via Motive ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Filed under: Coupes , Auction Action , Ford When I first gazed upon the Shelby GT500KR at a Ford event, I leaned over to fellow blogger Sam Abuelsamid and told him that dealers would try to get $100k for the limited edition road-ruling 'Stangs. Well, as it turns out it wasn't even a ballpark guess, as Lone Star Ford is looking to fetch $155k for his allotted KR on eBay. That's almost double the KR's $79,995 MSRP , but with only 1,000 special edition GT500's scheduled for this year, there is bound to be drastic markup. It is worth pointing out that the Ford GT's MSRP was roughly $155k, and for the same price you can get a BMW M3, a Mustang GT500, and one hell of a vacation. If money means little to you and you're seriously thinking about shelling out $155k for this Shelby GT500KR, you won't find out a whole lot of information on the eBay page. Part of the reason for that is because Lone Star Ford hasn't yet taken delivery of the 540 hp Mustang that's...

Filed under: Auction Action , Etc. , Supercars Click above for gallery of the Batmobile The Michael Keaton/Jack Nicholson Batman is and probably always will be my all-time favorite movie, and the ostentatious Batmobile was one of my most cherished Hot Wheels. Owning the flat-black exotic has always been a less than realistic goal, but thanks to eBay, someone will have that chance. If you like the Batmobile as much as I do, and unlike me have at least $500,000, you can actually purchase the Dark Knight's superhero-mobile on eBay. The Batmobile on auction is number five of five, and with only 54 miles on the odometer, it is one rare bird indeed. It has no doors, and the only way to get behind the wheel is to jump in through the roof. The 20-foot long Batmobile hides a 5.7L Chevy small-block under-hood that hasn't been driven in five years, and judging from the pics on eBay, it's an automatic, too. It does make sense for Batman to fore-go manual shifts, since he needed to use his...

Filed under: Sports/GTs , Auction Action , Etc. , Chevrolet , Celebrities When you need to escape a pack of damn dirty apes, what could be better than a Corvette? Charlton Heston's Corvette, that's what. It's a virtually stock 1999 C5, looking sharp in black with chrome wheels. The current owner has added new taillights, the C6 style rims, and a Borla exhaust. The current bid of $20,600 is a fair price for that vintage 'Vette showing under 20,000 miles, though the reserve has yet to be met. We wonder what type of unrealistic hollywood-connection premium the seller is wishing for. C'mon, it doesn't matter who once owned it, really. Maybe if it were more rare, maybe if it were a Callaway sleeper, then it would be worth forking over more dough. Of course, we'd expect nothing less than someone trying to cash in off the back of a recently passed movie star. Despite the charming manifesto on the listing, this car is no more a collector's item than any other clean...

Filed under: Time Warp , Auction Action Click to view more of the 1965 Lancia Flavia Zagato Zagato's designs aren't for everyone. Just as well, because they're not available to everyone, usually costing a fair penny and produced in very limited numbers. This example, however, takes the love-it-or-hate-it approach to new (or rather, old) extremes. Lancia created just 626 examples of this Zagato-designed coupe between 1963 and 1967, of which only a few reportedly remain in good condition today. (It's not quite as rare as the Lancia Zagato we brought you a couple of weeks ago, but still a genuine collector's item.) This one was made in 1965, and after failing to sell on eBay, it has now been posted on the Seattle Craigslist, for sale in Ventura, California. The aluminum bodywork may not be the prettiest at the ball, particularly with the stock steel wheels, but you're not likely to pull up next to another one at an intersection. Back in its day, it actually sold for...

Filed under: Auction Action , Etc. As a compliment to Garth's AMC Pacer , a lucky eBay bidder with some extra cash can also snag this Chicago area landmark - The Spindle - as seen in the Wayne's World movie. The eight-car kabob is a 50-foot sculpture commissioned by Berwyn, Illinois shopping center Cermak Plaza and created by artist Dustin Shuler in 1989. It is a quirky feature loved by some, but believed to be an eyesore by many. The vehicles skewered on the stake, from the bottom up, are an unknown Mercury, Ford LTD, Ford Mustang, Mercury Capri, Ford Escort, a BMW once belonging to the shopping center owner and a VW Beatle. It seems that the landmark has generated a lot of attention recently since Cermak Plaza is due for renovation and the sculpture is not a part of the plans. Fans have initiated a movement to save The Spindle from destruction, but so far its future is up in the air. This auction must be a method to determine whether some outside party might fork over the cash...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Time Warp , Auction Action , Etc. , Cadillac For the automotive collector looking for something truly unique, here it is; a rolling staph infection. This car is a convergence of worst-ofs compounded by a customization apparently overseen by Huggy Bear. 1980s front-drive Cadillacs might be charitably described as bargains, though the first repair bill for the grenade masquerading as an engine called the HT4100 will change the adjective to worthless. How much would you pay for a cast-off Caddy with a hot tub in back, a beak cribbed from an '80 Grand Prix, and a bleak future in terms of appreciation? The reserve has yet to be met at $2500, and we wonder what unrealistic number the seller's decided upon. Why would you even do this? It reminds us of a Steak-Ums commercial from the late '80s or early '90s with a separated at birth premise, but we doubt this car has any showbiz history. Likely, it's just a curiosity, possibly the result of a coked...

Filed under: Time Warp , Coupes , Economy , Auction Action , Hatchbacks , Celebrities Click on the Mirthmobile to view more pictures This eBay auction seeks to find out if there are any set of circumstances under which an AMC Pacer is worth the Buy-It-Now price of $8 grand. So far, the answer is no, but there's still a day left. For fans of the movie Wayne's World , this vehicle could offer a unique opportunity to grab a piece of movie magic, as it was built by Paramount Studios as a prop for the Paramount Kings Island theme-park ride, Hurler, based on the Wayne's World series of movies. Wondering how you could be sure that this is legit? Worry not, it comes with a signed letter of authenticity from Volo Museum and the hood is signed by none other than George Barris himself. No word on whether or not the "SHA WING" Ohio license plate is included in the asking price. We do have it on good authority, though, that the car has never been spewed in. Thanks for the tip,...

Filed under: Tuners , Auction Action , Etc. , Chevrolet , Chrysler When offering an item for sale, a fuzzy key selling point like "may be legal in some states already" might not be the deal clincher you'd hoped. On today's episode of "Fun With Centers of Gravity" we have the delightful union of the neuter-car PT Cruiser with the greasy unmentionables of a 29 year old Chevy Blazer. It may very well be legal in some states, but it'll still be unholy everywhere it goes. Build quality appears on par with a dollar store habachi - are those pop rivets on the fender liners? The battery sitting on a folded back seat is the crowning feature of the interior and there's also no heat or air conditioning, making this a fun year-round ride. The zip-ties and extra-fun spark plug wire routing in the engine bay dress up the 350, and the seller believes so much in this powertrain that there's a warranty to sweeten the pot. Let's ignore the fact that the nearly...

Filed under: Car Buying , Sports/GTs , Auction Action , Pontiac Click above for a high-res gallery of the 1964 Pontiac Banshee The very cool 1964 Pontiac Banshee prototype is being auctioned off, again. Back in November of last year, the super-cool and svelte vehicle was put up on eBay with a Buy-It-Now price of $1.3 million. It didn't sell, so it's back up ... with a cool $2 hundred-grand tacked onto the price. Powered by Pontiac's OHC straight-six engine, the Banshee was intended to compete with the just-introduced Ford Mustang. As an extremely unique piece of automotive history, there are surely a few people out there with very deep pockets who would like to get their hands on the car that GM thought was too close to Corvette territory. Because GM had already committed to the 'Vette as its halo-car, it squashed the Banshee program before John De Lorean, then head of Pontiac, was able to get the Banshee into production. Look closely and you'll note that many of the...

Filed under: Auction Action , Etc. , Lincoln click above to view more images of Manny's 1967 Lincoln Continental Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez may be one of the greatest pure hitters in the history of Major League Baseball, but the world champion slugger has at times been maligned for his lack of heart on the diamond. Very few people are questioning the perennial all-star's heart outside work, however, after he donated his gorgeous custom 1967 Lincoln Continental to charity. The immaculate blue convertible comes equipped with suicide doors, a 500-cubic-inch Ford Racing powerplant, a spotless engine bay, modernized interior, and some serious DUBs. The '67 Continental has only 72 miles post rebuild, and the plush ride provided by the air suspension will make you think you're driving in, well, a 2008 Lincoln. The charity involved is Boston's Franciscan children's hospital, and while bidding on eBay started at $30,000, it has quickly risen above $70,000. As badly as...
