Filed under: Auction Action , Mercedes Benz , Celebrities Some movie critics said that Harrison Ford was too old to star in another Indiana Jones film, but the entertaining movie grossed $125m in its first weekend. With cars, well conditioned collectibles can fetch big dollars too. The 1937 Mercedes 300c from Raiders of the Lost Ark is up for bidding on eBay, and the starting price is a jaw-dropping $2.5m. The mint-conditioned Mercedes convertible reportedly only has 600 miles on the odometer, and perhaps more importantly the vehicle's owner has proof the German classic was in the movie. The classic Benz's memorable scene came during one of films more exciting and unbelievable chase scenes, where it served as the ride of choice for the Nazi regime. The car, which sat untouched in a private collection for over 26 years, was also the featured guest at the 1982 Harbour, FL D'Elegance, and both the sheet metal and interior look spectacular. Mercedes-Benz, which usually holds on to its retired race cars, is preparing to auction off one (yeah, just one) of its DTM cars. The vehicle in question is the AMG C-Class racer in which Gary Paffett took the checkered flag last year in Oschersleben. With an opening bid set at €300,000, the car will be sold to the highest bidder on April 4 by Christie's auction house to raise money for social sports projects for youth, funded by sponsor Laureus' "Sport for Good" foundation. Filed under: Auction Action , Etc. , Mercedes Benz A few days ago we alerted you to the fact that Lindsay Lohan's smashed-up-yet-now-repaired Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG was being listed on eBay Motors by the shop that fixed its front end. The shop figured out it was Ms. Lohan's ride when a customer compared the license plate that was still on the car to one seen in a video about the starlet's DUI crash. They indeed matched and the shop then realized it was sitting on a potential gold mine. After all, if people will pay thousands for Britney's unwashed left sock, surely Lindsay's personal Doom's Day machine would fetch a few more dollars than a standard SL65 AMG. And so the eBay listing for the car went up and was plastered with LiLo's image and tales of debauchery to which the car was a witness. Apparently, eBay frowns upon profiting from the mishaps of young hollywood (or else a team lawyers had some words with eBay). The auction apparently ended prematurely, but...
