Filed under: Sedans/Saloons , Auction Action , Cadillac , GM Click the image above for more high-res pics of the CTS-V If you had your heart set on dropping big-time coin to own the first next-gen Cadillac CTS-V, you're already too late. CTS-V numero uno was auctioned off Thursday at a charity benefiting prostate cancer, and amazingly the 550 hp monogrammed sledgehammer was actually a bit of a bargain. Cigar entrepreneur Cano Ozgener dropped a reasonable $75,000 to become the winning bidder, which is likely a bit more than the CTS-V will cost at the dealership, but a heck of a lot less than other serial number ones that have sold over the past couple years. Hit the jump for more details on the auction in GM's press release. Filed under: Aftermarket , Time Warp , Auction Action , Etc. , Cadillac For the automotive collector looking for something truly unique, here it is; a rolling staph infection. This car is a convergence of worst-ofs compounded by a customization apparently overseen by Huggy Bear. 1980s front-drive Cadillacs might be charitably described as bargains, though the first repair bill for the grenade masquerading as an engine called the HT4100 will change the adjective to worthless. How much would you pay for a cast-off Caddy with a hot tub in back, a beak cribbed from an '80 Grand Prix, and a bleak future in terms of appreciation? The reserve has yet to be met at $2500, and we wonder what unrealistic number the seller's decided upon. Why would you even do this? It reminds us of a Steak-Ums commercial from the late '80s or early '90s with a separated at birth premise, but we doubt this car has any showbiz history. Likely, it's just a curiosity, possibly the result of a coked...

Filed under: SUVs , Auction Action , Cadillac Woke up this morning and I bought myself Tony Soprano's Escalade. Those may not be the exact words to the theme song from the hit HBO drama, but that's all you'll be singing if you take the winning bid at Barrett-Jackson's upcoming auction in Florida. Last summer we brought you news of Tony Soprano's Chevy Suburban being sold on eBay . This year the white 2003 Cadillac sport-ute which the character drove on The Sopranos is one of seven cars from the television series being sold at auction with no reserve at the Collector Car Event in West Palm Beach, Florida, from March 26-30. Joining Tony's Cadillac will be Vito Spatafore's black DeVille and the champagne CTS which Paulie Walnuts drove across Chris Moltisanti's front yard, as well as the '97 Mercury Villager which Tony and Paulie drove in Florida and several of the cars from the shootout at Tony's club. The cars will all be sold without reserve to benefit...

Filed under: Tuners , Auction Action , Etc. , Euro , Cadillac , Ferrari Say "Italian-styled Cadillac" and any car person will shoot back "Allante." It does appear, though, that Zagato executed coachwork on top of a fourth-generation Eldorado before Cadillac ever thought of shipping its wares to and from Pininfarina. This Eldo looks a lot like a Ferrari, and there's a reason for that, according to the seller. The bodywork on this car was reportedly designed by Luigi Chinetti , Ferrari racer and the first Ferrari agent in the United States. Chinetti went on to found the North American Racing Team, also an official Ferrari venture, and that might explain why this car has NART prominently displayed on its nose. The NART badging is the only thing this custom Caddy shares with the Ferraris under Mr. Chinetti's umbrella, though. The success of his Prancing Horse franchise is likely why this prototype, which was displayed at the Turin and New York auto shows in 1971...

Filed under: Time Warp , Auction Action , Etc. , Cadillac , Celebrities It's not the actual car referenced in the little chestnut " Freeway of Love ," but this Mary-Kay pink 2008 Cadillac CTS signed by Aretha Franklin is hitting the auction block in Los Angeles today. The funds will benefit MusiCares, an organization set up by the Recording Academy (the Grammy people) to provide humanitarian support to musicians that need help. That doesn't mean getting a speech therapist for Ozzy, it's more like helping folks still trying to rebuild their lives after Hurricane Katrina. The event is part of the MusicCares 2008 Person of the Year tribute that will honor Aretha Franklin, and we'd much rather have a pink CTS than a Cimmaron, which was the entry-level Caddy during the song's day on the charts. We'd take it in black, and load R-E-S-P-E-C-T onto the audio system's hard drive immediately. [Source: MusiCares via Inside Line] Read | Permalink | Email this |...
