Auto Shows , Alfa Romeo Alfa Romeo MiTo Veloce - Click above for a gallery At next month's AutoRAI tuning show (April 1st through 11th), Alfa Romeo will trot out yet another racy MiTo concept to show off the hatch's tuning potential. The Alfa Romeo MiTo Veloce is packing the stock turbocharged 1.4-liter, but output has been increased to around 180 hp through some yet-to-be disclosed tweaks and the 0-62 mph time has dropped to 7.5 seconds. Koni shocks have been fitted at all four corners along with a custom set of wheels, and the exterior gets tarted up with a new carbon fiber front diffuser and graphics package. It's not quite as extreme as the MiTo GTA we saw in Geneva , but its further proof that the lil' hatch has plenty of potential if it ever makes it to U.S. shores. Filed under: Aftermarket , Trucks/Pickups , Cadillac , Lifestyle Not surprisingly, owners of the most expensive pickup truck in America tend to have lots of money themselves. According to SEMA, 71% of Cadillac Escalade EXT owners make over $100,000 per year, and they also dole out plenty of coin for aftermarket improvements. While that little nugget of knowledge doesn't come as a shocker, the fact is that the average Cadillac Escalade EXT owner spends a whopping $5,814 to customize their wreath-and-crested blingmobile, which is twice as much as the next truck on the list, the Chevy Avalanche at $2,652. Owners of the Ford F-Series, Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra and Dodge Ram all add between $819 and $1,040 on accessories for their trucks, which might indicate that these purchases were often made to do real work. Of the compact and midsize pickup segment, owners of the Honda Ridgeline spent the most on their trucks at $1,441 on average per vehicle. Somewhat predictably, the inexpensive...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Time Warp , Trucks/Pickups , Dodge , Special/Limited Editions Dodge's original Li'l Red Express trucks are now in their early 30s, and even building a clone will be an exercise in rust mitigation and parts scavenging. By the time you're done, you'll have spent enough to buy a brand new Ram. Mopar high-performance icon Mr. Norm's is doing what Chrysler can't currently manage, reviving the spirit of the original with a fully modern Red XPress Truck, using the excellent new Ram as a basis. The name has been tweaked and there's no fat-fendered bed, but the general idea is the same. Chrysler's 5.7-liter Hemi is the standard fitment, and with 380 horsepower and 403 pound-feet of torque, it makes a good argument. Alternatively, 6.1 liters of SRT crate Hemi will give you about 450 hp, and then there's the 426 cubic inch version of the SRT engine, which Mr. Norm's modified with forged internals and more stroke. Thus tweaked, the...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , Hatchbacks , Volkswagen Exclusive Tuning Worldwide Mark V VW GTI "W12 650" - Click above for a gallery At the 2007 Wörthersee show in Austria, the VAG crew brought out two concepts that had VW and Audi fanboys frothing at the mouth. The first was the Audi TT Clubsport Quattro concept and the other was the VW Golf GTI W12 650 concept . The TT roadster made the transition from concept to limited production model (between 50 and 100 are being made for the Middle East market), while the W12-powered GTI remained an engineering show-piece. Exclusive Tuning Worldwide decided that the show crowd shouldn't be left out of the fun and developed a full body kit for the Mark V GTI that apes the W12's insane exterior. The kit consists of new side skirts, widened front and rear fenders, a reworked hatch and bumper, along with an oddly proportioned front bumper and "W12 650" badging, all used to create a close facsimile of the show car...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , Sports/GTs , Ford , ROUSH 2010 Roush 427R Mustang - Click above for image gallery If you're the type of person who loves every new Ford Mustang variation that hits the market, then this is what you've finally been waiting for. If you're the type who can't stand it, well, deal with it. Today, Roush is the first to dip its toe into into what will doubtlessly be a very crowded pool of tuner Mustangs with the introduction of its 2010 427R Mustang at its Livonia, MI assembly plant. Like the standard 2010 Mustang, don't expect drastic changes underneath - the meat-and-potatoes of Roush Mustangs over the past few years are all there but now with a fresh new face. Under the hood, the Blue Oval's V8 has been supercharged to produce 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, and it now features a more efficient intake system and improved cooling. The appearance package is relatively subtle (if you can call side stripes "subtle") and...

Filed under: Aftermarket , SEMA , Economy , Auction Action , SMART , Celebrities , Special/Limited Editions BatSmart from SEMA - Click above for high-res image gallery One of the most unusual vehicles to grace last year's SEMA Show in Las Vegas is now up for auction on eBay Motors. Called the BatSmart , this little vehicle was unlike most of the high-octane pieces of rolling artwork at the event in that it used just three pistons and 70 horsepower to move along its twin passengers. What it loses in power, though, it makes up in style, right? Designed by George Barris himself, creator of the original Batmobile from the mid '60s, the Batsmart features a faux turbine and rocket launchers to go along with its full custom body kit, which includes the requisite rear batfins and rodent-like pointy nose. Click here to see the auction page and be sure to check out our gallery below. Thanks for the tip, Mick! Gallery: eBay Find of the Day: Batsmart Gallery: SEMA 2008: Barris BatSMART [Source...

Filed under: Aftermarket , SUVs , Japan , Honda , HUMMER Driving a HUMMER in Japan seems about as practical as piloting an Chevy Kodiak in the urban canyons of Manhattan. It's just not optimal. Solution? Take Honda's pint-sized pillbox on wheels, the Crossroad , and HUMMERize it. That's what Okada Enterprise (Motto: "We supplied high quality cars") has gone and done for Japanese drivers looking to add more macho to their micro. That is, if macho means a HUMMER-style grille, abundant chrome trim, gaudy wheels, and (our favorite) a backwards-reading "HUMMER H4" decal on the driver's side. The upside? The Crossroad-turned-HUMMER stands little chance of getting vandalized by intolerant eco-weenies. More photos of the various accessories are in the gallery below, and the Okada video promoting the kit is embedded after the jump. Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , Japan This passed September, Trust Co. LTD - the parent company of GReddy Performance Products in the U.S. - declared the Japanese equivalent of Chapter 11 . According to a release from the aftermarket parts supplier, Trust has successfully completed the reorganization process (known in Japan as Minji-Saisei-Hou) and is hoping to be completely back on its feet within the next few months. During the reorganization , both Trust and GReddy have maintained its workforce here and abroad, developed new components, continued to produce parts and serviced its clients around the world. While we're happy to hear about GReddy's future involvement in the aftermarket, this won't be the first or last filing from a performance part supplier as the auto-apocalypse continues.
