Filed under: Aftermarket , Concept Cars , SEMA , Tuners , SUVs , Mercedes-Benz Click above for a hi-res gallery of the GLK SEMA show cars Perhaps you've heard: Mercedes-Benz has this new SUV called the GLK , and it's not just the Sex and the City audience that's being targeted. The compact ute's getting-to-know-you tour will make a stop at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, where four concept versions will be on display. We already told you about RENNtech's hybrid Rally Racer show truck, and now we have some info on the other three versions that'll join it in Vegas. Naturally, BRABUS will represent, skinning the GLK300 Bluetec in Widestar duds, new wheels, and the de rigeur custom interior. No power upgrade yet, it seems, but knowing BRABUS, they'll have a version putting out approximately a trillion horsepower by the time the GLK is in customers' hands. Boulevard Customs is prepping the GLK "Urban Whip" , a garish creation sporting 26" wheels and...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , Supercars , Mercedes Benz Click for hi-res gallery of the RENNtech SLR 722 PKG2 The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren may be on its way out, but that doesn't mean there can't be more horsepower extracted from the supercar. The original had 617hp. Then came the SLR 722 , which despite its name had 650 horses underhood. The 722's American importer, RENNtech , addressed the perception gap with its first package , boosting output to an eponymous 722hp. Never satisfied to leave well enough alone, RENNtech has now released its second package for the SLR 722 that further boosts power to 740 thanks to a revised ECU and a freer-flowing exhaust system. While RENNtech's PKG1 went for a solid $12,900 (come on, what's a lousy $13k on the price of such a supercar?), the new PKG2 costs a heftier $26,990, plus an extra $7,800 for the optional Signature 10-spoke 20-inch rims, which can be had in chrome, satin-ceramic or "sniper gray" finishes. The...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , Sedans/Saloons , Mercedes Benz Click above for high-res gallery of the Väth V63RS There's no shortage of Mercedes-Benz tuners, and we're used to having news tips in our email box regarding BRABUS, Kleemann, Lorinser, Carlsson, etc. That's why we were curious when we received a tip about a company taht we'd never heard of called Väth. The German aftermarket company has products for the entire Mercedes-Benz lineup, the latest of which is the V63RS Clubsport based on the C63 AMG that you see here. Väth essentially leaves the exterior untouched and focuses on the performance including an upgrade of the V8 to 585 bhp and 509 lb-ft torque that will power the car to a top speed of 202 mph. Other upgrades available include a sport suspension, high performance brakes, 19-inch wheels, and sport seats. Complete cars are available at a hefty 125,000 Euros, although components can be purchased individually, as well. Just like the BRABUS...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , Convertibles , Euro , Mercedes Benz , Brabus Click above for a high-res gallery of the BRABUS SL "BRABUS" might as well be German for, "Hey, why not?" This would seem to be the question its engineers ask themselves before they stuff ludicrous amounts of power under the hoods of Mercedes-Benz cars and trucks. This behavior is well - documented , and it continues unabated with the arrival of MB's new SL . Full wheel/tire, interior, and styling packages are a given. Backing up those enhanced looks is an assortment of tuning packages capable of providing more power than even Montgomery Scott could ever plead for. The SV12 S Biturbo engine swap appears to have been created by someone with a severe, pathological hatred for tires. This is the same engine used in the Brabus Bullit , and it dishes out a predictably ridiculous 720 horsepower and 973 lb-ft of torque. The latter number is electronically restrained to a mere 811 lb-ft., and...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , Coupes , Supercars , Mercedes Benz , Ferrari Click above to more high-res pics of MANSORY's new supercars Remember last month when we showed you a pair of supercars tuned by MANSORY at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show ? Perhaps the poor lighting inside the Geneva EXPO obscured the awesomosity of these two tuner vehicles. MANSORY has corrected this by releasing a slew of high-res official images showing each car in perfect lightning so every detail is laid bare, for better or worse. The first car is the MANSORY McLaren SLR "Renovatio", which is obviously based off of the Mercedes-Benz supercar but features many replacement carbon fiber pieces, lighter wheels and a new body kit that makes the standard car look downright dowdy by comparison. MANSORY didn't just alter the SLR's looks, but went one step further by upgrading its supercharger and intercoolers, so the 5.5L V8 is now producing a stout 700 horsepower. The interior also gets the...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Geneva Motor Show , Supercars , Mercedes Benz , Ferrari Click above for high-res gallery OK, we've seen some of their previous work so we probably shouldn't have expected much more this time around, but when we heard that Mansory had gotten its hands on an SLR and a Ferrari 599 GTB, we certainly hoped that it would figure out a way to enhance their gotta-have-it quotients. Alas, our prayers went unanswered. Done up in a matte gold and black combo, the SLR looks a bit toy-like, but it should manage to sell in the single digits at least. Which digit you choose to count the sales is up to you. The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano had actually been criticized in some camps for being a bit too evocative of the Chevrolet Corvette when it was first shown. The Mansory edition done up in white and carbon fiber looks even more Vette-like to our eyes. Thoughts of a ZR1 or the recent 427 special edition Z06 leapt to mind. There was also a Phantom in the booth, but quite honestly...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Geneva Motor Show , Mercedes Benz Click if you dare to check out our high-res gallery. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and in this case, we've been rendered so speechless that we need the photos to do all of our talking. Why, oh why, would somebody intentionally inflict this kind of punishment on a pair of perfectly good Mercedes Benzes? Fab Design is showing these two shockers and the best guess as to an answer to our question is that they are desperate for attention. I guess that makes us enablers now. Actually, they might have been made for Kobe Bryant, now that we think of it. Just check out that purple and gold. Gallery: Fab Design tuner Mercedes Benzes Permalink | Email this | Comments

Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , Sedans/Saloons , Sports/GTs , Geneva Motor Show , Euro , Supercars , Mercedes Benz , Brabus Click above for high-res gallery of the BRABUS Bullit Black Arrow At its Frankfurt introduction last year, the BRABUS Bullit was positioned as the tuner's ultimate "sleeper." Painted a fairly standard-looking gray with subdued black wheels and carbon-fiber accents, the Bullit did differ from some of BRABUS' more wildly extroverted vehicles, which scream "SUPER TUNER! LOOK AT ME!" That's not to say that the Bullit doesn't have the creds, though -- a 720-horsepower twin-turbo V12 with torque electronically limited to 811 lb-ft will certainly get the job done. (Sans the electronic safety net, it produces 974 lb-ft, in case you were wondering. Tires become one with the ozone layer at the mere thought of this.) For Geneva this year, BRABUS is bringing the Bullitt Black Arrow . What's different about it? Not much, except that its...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , Convertibles , Economy , Sports/GTs , Geneva Motor Show , Euro , Supercars , Mercedes Benz , SMART , Brabus Click image for a hi-res gallery of the Brabus SLR and its tender Megayachts usually come with fancy tenders , so why not supercars, too? BRABUS has taken the idea and run with it, pairing one of its tuned McLaren SLR Roadsters with a matching runabout in the form of a smart fortwo-based ULTIMATE 112. The SLR is the beneficiary of the usual complement of upgrades, including a full body and trim kit (dig those carbon fiber replacement "gills"), a custom interior, and the requisite underhood tweaking, which bestows the roadster with 650 horsepower -- enough to make the Kessel run to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds, with a top end of 211 mph. When its time to park the super-Merc and head into more constrained areas of the city, it's occupants can switch over to the car's ULTIMATE 112 "tender" which is finished and appointed to perfectly...

Filed under: Aftermarket , SUVs , Supercars , Mercedes Benz , AMG Click above to view more high-res photos The German automakers keep on making more and more powerful sport-utes - some capable of pulling jumbo-jets and driving up buildings - with seemingly no end in sight. But for one owner, a stock Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG just wasn't enough to outperform his neighbor's Porsche Cayenne Turbo, so he had the engine swapped out for the 720-hp 5.5L supercharged V8 from the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. The result? 0-60 in 4.2 seconds in a package that's rivaled in its exotic-engined brutality only by the long-departed Countach-powered Lamborghini LM002 . Of course there's only one place on earth that such a unique creation could possibly call home: Abu Dhabi, the same über-wealthy gulf emirate where the obscenely wealthy built Ferrari theme parks and drive $1.4 million hyper-exotics with $14 million license plates . Where else? See it to believe it in the gallery below and in...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , Convertibles , Geneva Motor Show , Mercedes Benz , UAW/Unions click above image to view more images of the Lorinser Nardo3 Mercedes SL Perennial Mercedes-Benz tuner Lorinser is coming to Geneva with some new toys. Highlighting its booth at the fast-approaching auto salon will be the Nardo3. Based on the outgoing Mercedes SL AMG roadster, the Nardo3 borrows its name from the high-speed test track in Italy and strives to live up to the name by boosting power from the twin-turbo V12 to 660 hp. It also features some slick aero mods, including a new rear bumper with integrated exhaust outlets and a new front end to match. Although Mercedes has already announced its new AMG SL-Class roadsters , Lorinser will only produce 50 copies of the Nardo3 and should have no trouble selling them. Lorinser will also be showcasing its modifications for diesel Mercedes-Benz cars with the C-Class T-Model that upgrades the C320 T CDI with revised electronics, boosting power...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Euro , Mercedes Benz click above for more pics of the RENNTech AMG CL65 While Mercedes-Benz and AMG may be claiming that future high-performance models bearing the three-pointed star will not place such a heavy emphasis on high horsepower, that doesn't mean aftermarket tuner RENNTech is giving up the fight. The German tuner announced today a new Stage 3 package for any Mercedes AMG model powered by the company's twin-turbo 6.0L V12, a.k.a. the AMG 65-series of models. These include the S65, CL65 (shown) and the SL65 AMG. Normally producing an already unreasonable 604 horsepower, the 65-Series TT V12 is improved with "next-generation ECU software" to get 695 HP and 890 lb-ft of torque. In addition to an extra 91 horsepower, RENNTech also claims its software tuning improves gas mileage and emissions. Of course, any bump in power requires a likewise improvement to heat management and airflow, so RENNTech also adds a bigger intercooler pump and secondary...

Filed under: Aftermarket , SUVs , Lamborghini , Mercedes Benz , Celebrities Tina Turner is one of the most successful performing and recording artists of all time. She's won eight Grammies, hit the Billboard Top 10 seven times and sold more concert tickets than any other solo performer in history. Unfortunately she never learned how to drive stick, but having sold over 180 million records, she could well afford (and as The Queen of the Rock & Roll could hardly afford not) to buy a Lamborghini. So Turner bought an LM002, the Lamborghini of sport-utility vehicles, and had the original Countach V12 ripped out and swapped for a V8 out of a Mercedes E500 with an automatic transmission. Naturally, the retrofit also included a thumpin' entertainment system, including a 1500-Watt Blaupunkt stereo and a whole load of lights and mirrors. The conversion originally cost twice the value of the truck itself, at 150,000 deutschemarks. The truck has been workin' for the man every night...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , SUVs , Euro , Mercedes Benz click image to enlarge Carlsson has applied its tuning magic to the new M-Class with a host of power, visual, and interior upgrades. Starting with the engine, Carlsson's performance kit for the 320 CDI engine boosts horsepower to 269 and torque to 452 lb-ft, and a new exhaust system with quad tailpipes is also available. The suspension can be upgraded with Carlsson's C-Tronic system that lowers the vehicle 40mm, and 22" 11-spoke wheels help fill the wheel wells even more. A subtle front spoiler and a diffuser-look rear skirt are the only exterior modifications. Interior appointments include alcantara and leather seats, a sport steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and illuminated door exit lights. Once again, Carlsson proves that sometimes it doesn't take much to make a better Benz. Filed under: Aftermarket , Coupes , Mercedes Benz click above image for high-res gallery With news of the Ford Shelby GT500KR being plucked from obscurity to play the role of KITT in the TV revival of Knight Rider, it makes you wonder what cars might have been passed up to play the part. Surely this one got called back for a couple rereads. It's a Mercedes-Benz CL-Class wearing the new tuning package from Wald . Sporting an all-black exterior, the Wald CL gets a number of aerodynamic add-ons including new front and rear aprons, new side skirts, a new rear spoiler, vents aplenty (check out the ones atop the front fenders and behind the front wheels ) and jet black rims. We're not sure, however, if the voice of Will Arnett would sound right emanating from the dash of the Wald CL. Perhaps James Earl Jones? Yeah, you feel me.
