GALLERY: GM's future interior designs

GM has revealed a set of concept renderings that showcase some futuristic new interior components, specifically designs for center stacks and climate-control systems of the future. One of the more interesting concepts also reveals a future multi-function key-fob with an LCD surface and voice recognition features inspired by none other than Knight Rider's K.I.T.T.

Other drawings previewed future designs for the center stack of the Lambda-based CUVs, as well as a new design for the Malibu and Aura cars, and Cadillac's future BRX SUV. Our favorite was a new configurable instrument cluster with a jewel-like central dial sitting atop an electronic faceplate that can switch between the speedometer, tacho or satnav system (see above). The images previewed three possible designs, one specific to Chevy, Pontiac and Cadillac.

It's certainly interesting to watch GM work so hard on improving its interiors. The latest Cadillacs have shown major improvements in quality and design, and as these new renderings show, there's more in store possibly for the rest of GM's fleet. We just hope they get out of the labs and into production cars sooner rather than later. Check them out for yourself in the gallery below.
